I have really fine, limp hair and want to know how to give it more volume without too much product.
I asked top Auckland stylist Grant Bettjeman for help with this one. He says:
“You’re describing my hair, so I have some hints from experience.
Most people with fine hair shampoo every day. Be sure to use a gently volumising shampoo and light conditioner. Then apply a mousse – I like KÉrastase Volumifique Amplifying Mousse $40.
Just put a tennis-ball-sized amount through wet hair and blast dry with your head upside down. Finish the blow wave with a blast of cool air – this locks in volume and separates the hair for a more modern look.
Dry shampoos should be an essential part of your kit, as they can be sprayed into dry hair at any time to give refreshed volume.
If you’re looking for a bit of extra hold, be sure to use a dry hairspray, such as Kérastase Laque Couture $39.”
