Get the most out of your shave with these top tips!
Use conditioner
If you run out of shaving foam, conditioner is a great alternative for getting a close shave. Conditioned softens the hair and also doesn’t clog up your razor as much.
Exfoliate first
Dead skin can get in the way of the best shave. Scrub those knees well and rinse before you start the shaving process, and you’ll have a closer shave in an instant.
Use men’s razors for coarse hair
While most beauticians don’t recommend shaving your bikini line, if you do choose to take care of hair this way, men’s razors can often do a better job as they’re created for coarser hair. They’re also great for legs and armpits if you find your hair is particularly coarse.
Use lip balm to heal cuts
Paw paw or other ointment can help heal your shaving cuts. Just dab some on after you notice the cut and it should heal quicker.
Clean your razor with baby oil
Leaving your razor in the shower can actually dull the blades, giving you less shave for your money. Remove and dry your razor inbetween uses, and use a little baby oil to help clean the blades.
Use short strokes
Short, precise strokes are the best way to get a clean shave that limits irritation, especially around the delicate knee area.
A cold rinse goes a long way
Cold water closes the pores of the skin and will soothe irritation after the shave.
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
The golden rule for most of life’s problems: moisturising. If you suffer with extremely sensitive skin, use calamine lotion of aloe vera gel immediately after to help stop irritation. It also pays to avoid scented lotions which can irritate your skin.
