5-minute fixes

Getting ready in a rush is all about paring down your makeup kit to a few essentials that you keep separate from the special occasion stuff. Even that final five minutes before you dash out the door is time enough to give yourself a speedy makeover so long as you know exactly what look you’re trying to achieve. And it definitely beats trying to put on your mascara in the car!

**Quick tips

**For a speedy but slick look, top makeup artist Rae oorris advises steering clear of waterproof products and going for products you can smudge and blend. That way, if you make a mistake, you don’t have to remove it all and start again. She also advises doing your eyes first as they take the longest and need the most precision.

No problem! Does your mascara clump and make your eyelashes stick together? Wipe the wand with a tissue to remove excess product before you apply the first coat. This also minimises under-eye smudging problems, which can be a problem even with waterproof mascaras when the weather is warm and humid.

Eyeshadow wears off by lunchtime? Rich eye creams are makeup’s worst enemy. In the morning, stick to something lightweight or an eye serum instead.

Lipstick tends to feather? Add a matching lip pencil or liner to your kit to line lips after applying colour.
