The girls – Emma Diamond, Courtney MacKay, Tiffany Mair and Niki Osborne – are in their finest frocks with their hair and makeup done to perfection.
The boys – Sam Cable, Emmett Vallender, Dylan Cossey and Dylan Guitink – are looking dapper in suits and ties and are freshly groomed. They’ve never looked better!
Their sleek looks – along with the past 11 weeks on an Auckland construction site – has all been for this. Tonight, all four houses of The Block NZ are going under the hammer.
Up for grabs is the $100,000 grand prize and the title of season five Block champions.
The crowds are flooding into the auction room, and the Woman’s Day team are at the ready at tonight’s event in Auckland to bring you live updates as they happen.

7.15 pm: So we’ve covered the Home Star ratings, we’ve recapped the Open Homes and Mark has complimented each team. Now Shelley has announced that the People’s Choice Award winners for 2016 are crowd favourites Dyls and Dylz – Team Orange.
Shelley had an Oprah moment and got to give them the car!
7.25 pm: Sam and Emmett have revealed their picks for the auction order for tonight. “It’s a business decision at the end,” explains Sam.
Up first will be Niki and Tiff, who look shocked at being called out. Following them will be Emma and Courtney.
Sam and Emmett talk a lot, but haven’t given away their strategy of why they’ve placed their fellow contestants where they have.
Dyls and Dylz will be third, leaving Sam and Emmett to take the last spot in the auction order.
“I think we’ve played our cards really well,” Emmett says, adding that they’ve done their research and talked to “the right people”.
7.36 pm: Niki and Tiff are up. Good luck ladies!
7.42 pm: With their arms wrapped around each other, the girls wait anxiously for the results of their auction.
7.47 pm: Niki and Tiff’s house has sold for $1,320,000 after a fast and furious round of bidding, giving them a profit of $150,000.
7.54 pm: It’s Emma and Courtney’s turn in the hot seat now and the girls look visibly nervous as they await the results of their own auction.
8.05 pm: Emma and Courtney’s house has sold for an amazing $1,510,000, giving them a profit of $300,000 and putting them firmly in the lead – for now, at least! This also gives them the biggest profit in Block history so far… Dyls and Dylz are up next.
8.20 pm: Dyls and Dylz’s auction wasn’t as ‘hissing’ as Emma and Courtney’s, but their house has sold for $1,341,000. That gives the builder duo a profit of $151,000.
8.30 pm: Sam and Emmett’s house is last to go under the hammer tonight and it’s sold for $1,610,000! The boys have made a total profit of $380,000, putting them in the lead and crowning them the winners of The Block NZ 2016! Congratulations boys!
