After 10 long weeks of mouth-watering meals and cooking conundrums, My Kitchen Rules New Zealand has come to an end – with Wellington workmates Jess & Stella walking away with the $100,000 cash prize and the title of 2015 champions.
In an action-packed 90 minute finale, the cute cooks managed to outshine William & Zoe with a top-notch menu that had the judges raving.
Ben Bayley described the two teams as “chalk and cheese”, noting that while Will & Zoe were quiet and methodical, Jess & Stella seemed to be having fun plating up their final meals.
And their happy-go-lucky attitude paid off, with the pair simmering and sautéing their way to a serious cash injection.
“We didn’t even let ourselves think that we were going to win,” says Jess. “We were always telling ourselves to expect the worst but hope for the best. It’s incredible and crazy and I can’t believe it.”
While disappointed by the final result, Will and Zoe say the journey has been incredible.
“I am extremely proud of what Zoe and I have achieved – we gave it our absolute all,” says Will. “The competition has allowed us to explore and express our passion for food and we have loved every moment of it! Our friends Jess & Stella did an awesome job and we look forward to catching up over a fantastic dinner!
“We can’t wait to see what the next chapter in our foodie journey involves!”
