His sexy accent and muscular bod make Martin ‘Marty’ Laidlaw a hit with The Block NZ: Villa Wars’ female fans, but the burly builder only has eyes for one lady – his Scottish sweetheart Chelsia Docherty.
A couple of four years, Marty, 30, and his blonde beauty, 28, met at a mutual friend’s Halloween party in their native country and hit if off straight away.
“When we first met, we just knew we had something special,” recalls Marty, who was very fond of New Zealand and desperately hoped his cute crush would up sticks and move to Aotearoa with him.
“I told Chelsia of my plans very early on in our relationship. Luckily she decided to come with me.”
Having recently suffered a deportation scare due to a visa issue, the couple are rapt they still get to call our beloved country home. In their suburban Auckland neighbourhood, Chelsia and Marty enjoy camping, trips to the beach and being regulars in the city’s busy restaurant scene.
But surely Chelsia doesn’t enjoy all the attention her boyfriend gets?
“Are you kidding me?” she beams. “I love it, it means Kiwis have good taste!”

Luckily, Chelsia decided to come with him – and now the pair have happily settled down in New Zealand!
