They had the honeymoon from hell – and now Jesse Burford and Claire Nomarhas are facing a new challenge in making their marriage work. This week in Married At First Sight Australia, Jesse struggles with serious trust issues.
Viewers will be stunned as it all leads to an explosive late-night confrontation during Confessions Week. As Jesse’s rage boils over, will Claire call time on their short-lived marriage?
The couple’s honeymoon ended with Claire walking out after Jesse shushed her, criticised her belief in star signs and said her “random comments” annoyed him.

“In hindsight, there were definitely moments I could have done better,” confesses Jesse, 30. “But I did the best I could with what I knew at the time.”
The Perth marriage celebrant says he was still physically attracted to Melbourne kindergarten assistant Claire, 31, after the honeymoon, saying, “She’s hot!” But he adds that there’s more to attraction than looks.
“At times, I felt I was being judged and was a let-down to her hopes of a MAFS husband,” Jesse admits. “I felt that if I were to share my opinion on something, it would descend into a debate or me having to explain myself, or I’d feel like she was gathering intel on me.
“I don’t like arguing with anyone, so to keep the peace, I kept my mouth shut. I knew early on that we needed the experts’ help to keep things on track.”
As for getting “the ick” with Claire, Jesse is keen to explain that his turn-offs are “not a complete write-off of a person”.
He insists, “My prior relationships were riddled with icks that I tolerated for years at the cost of my heart.”
Jesse reveals that one of the things that made him stick around for this week’s Confessions Week was a conversation at the first dinner party with Perth beauty influencer Janelle Han, 28, who’s married to British-born business owner Adam Seed, 35.
“Janelle was the first real female friend I made on the show, and I felt safe, comfortable and supported by her,” he enthuses. “She encouraged me to not give up and to try to turn things around.”

But Jesse has had trust issues in a former relationship – “Who hasn’t?” he asks – and they’re set to become a problem again. Struggling to deal with those issues late one night, the situation results in a confrontation that sends shockwaves through the experiment.
Has Jesse destroyed any hope of a happy future with Claire?
