In case you missed it, the first kiss on The Bachelor New Zealand happened this week – and it didn’t involve bachelor Zac Franich.
The kiss between BFF’s Katey Freestone and Lucia Tabaillou (21) happened during Monday’s night’s rose ceremony just before the final rose was about to be handed out.
Bachelorette Lucia was among the bottom three and was facing the prospect of going home.
Now speculation has been running rife on social media as to whether there’s more to the pash or if the girls were just busting a move – in order to get Zac’s attention.
While the pair have become very close during their time at the mansion, Lucia told Spy there wasn’t anything serious to the kiss, more it was a token of affection between the two good friends.
“Well the first kiss was clearly just a kiss on the cheek and when Katey turned around again I thought she was kind of wanting me to go for it, so the kiss happened and I didn’t
regret it at all. It was definitely not a cry for attention or for Zac to keep us on longer and was clearly not staged whatsoever,” she said.
“It was genuinely just a quick kiss on the lips. Being in the bottom two sucked, so it was cool that Katey had my back, so just a bit of a pash to say ‘thanks babe’.”
Eliminated bachelorette Taylor (23) spoke to Woman’s Day after her exit from the show last week, saying the kiss confused everyone.
“They were a little bit drunk, which, you know, if you’re drinking wine after wine, it’s hard not to get a little bit tiddly,” she revealed.
“If they want to kiss, they can kiss. Maybe there is a spark between them, I don’t know. They are quite close.”
