It looks like Backstreets back alright – and with an enthusiastic new addition in tow.

On Tuesday night Carpool Karaoke star James Corden’s dreams came true when he performed with 90’s pop icons The Backstreet Boys.

“We are bringing back boy bands,” he proclaimed, during a segment on his Late Late Show on Tuesday night.

“I’m talking proper boy bands. Five guys together: the Cute One, the Funny One, the Nice One, the Other One and the Maverick who refused to play by the rules, all living together in some weird mansion in Orlando.”

James vowed to bring back the original boy band vibe of the glory years, when costumes were identical and dance moves were performed as one.

“I’m aware that boy bands haven’t gone away,” reflected James.

“But now they just stand on stage wearing skinny jeans and Vans sneakers and some of them – some of them – even have the audacity to pick up instruments. That is not what I want in a boy band. I want matching outfits. I want synchronized dancing and way-over-budget music videos. That’s why, boy bands, we’re bringing you back!”

And with no further ado, the camera swivelled to reveal all five members of The Backstreet Boys standing in formation on stage.

The music started and the group brought the house down with their rendition of their classic hit ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’, bringing in James himself to complete the performance.
