800 Words star Erik Thomson turns 50

The Scots-born, New Zealand-raised actor celebrates a milestone birthday

Talk about coming full circle. Erik Thomson started his career in New Zealand, and now finds himself back home playing George Turner in the hit series 800 Words.
In the years between, Erik has had some memorable roles in shows such as Xena: Warrior Princess, All Saints and Packed To The Rafters. He’s also graced the big screen in films such as The Black Balloon and Somersault.
With Erik in New Zealand for his 50th birthday - filming 800 Words - the actor admits his plans for a low-key celebration probably won't be realistic.
"I was hoping to celebrate on the down-low,” admits Erik to the New Zealand Woman's Weekly. “But now everyone knows, that might not be possible. I’m sure I will do something with the cast and crew – now that it’s not a secret!”
Speaking to the magazine, Erik also revealed he wasn't feeling any pressure to tick off a big bucket list now that he's reached his milestone birthday.
"I guess the age does make you start to think about making the most of every day and living life to the fullest, but I don’t think there is anything in particular that I have a desperate desire to complete before then,” he said.
And with 800 Words proving to be a hit with audiences both here and in Australia, fans will get to see more of the Turner family once the highly-anticipated third season hits screens.
