It was a tense finale night for all of the couples involved in this season of The Block, but in the end it was Alex and Corban Wells who walked away with the grand prize.

Their renovated house sold for $1,552,000, giving them a profit of $227,000 plus the extra $80,000 cash prize for coming in first – meaning the DIY gurus ended the night $307,000 richer!

However, the generous husband-and-wife team didn’t stop there – Alex and Corban also announced they would give away $30,000 of their winnings to fellow contestants Quinn and Ben, who made just $10,000 from the sale of their house.

It was teary eyes all around after Alex and Corban made their bombshell announcement, with the two couples bringing it in for a hug.

“We know how much work everyone has put in … and it’s just heartbreaking to see them walk away with 10 [grand] when we know their house is worth so much more,” Alex said through her tears.

In the end, every team walked away with something to show for their efforts on The Block. Maree and James earned $147,000 in profit for their house, while audience favourites Jo and Damo took home $61,000 and a Honda CRV Sport (their prize for winning the People’s Choice Award).
