October 11 marked a royal milestone for Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, as the stylish mum-of-two embarked on her first ever solo overseas trip to the Netherlands.

The one-day engagement saw the royal carrying out an action-packed itinerary, including a visit to King Willem-Alexander at his Wasenaar home, and a tour of the Mauritshuis Museum where she viewed such masterpieces as Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring”.

The Duchess also visited the British ambassador’s residence in The Hague to take part in a roundtable discussion on addiction, intervention, family and mental health, a cause she has enthusiastically championed over the years.

To cap off her busy day, Kate visited the Bouwkeet community group, which helps people in low-income neighbourhoods train in creative design and technology.
