Sarah, the Duchess of York couldn’t have been a more beaming and proud mother of the bride when her youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, tied the knot to Jack Brooksbank earlier this month.

And now the 59-year-old has opened up about the historic day and there’s one person in particular she’s thanking – her former mother-in-law, The Queen.

In a new interview with HELLO! magazine, Fergie praises the monarch for making Eugenie and Jack’s special day “so memorable” by allowing the wedding to take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle and St George’s Chapel.

“I cannot be more grateful to Eugenie’s grandmother for making this day so memorable,” Sarah told the publication.

Adding: “I am so grateful for all the hard work and kindness behind the scenes to make sure a special day for our daughter.”

Reflecting on the wedding day, Sarah says her daughter has found her true soul mate in Jack.

“Jack and Eugenie’s happiness and love for one another shone through on the day. We are so delighted that Jack is now officially part of the family. He is everything we would choose for Eugenie,” the children’s author mused.

But the most powerful moment for Sarah was when her daughter decided to showcase her scoliosis scar with a backless dress, sans veil, by Peter Pilotto.

“I was so proud of Eugenie standing tall and showing her scar. She is an inspiration to young women everywhere,” Sarah said.

Princess Eugenie’s scoliosis scar was proudly on display during her nuptials to Jack Brooksbank.

During the celebrations, Fergie’s close bond with her ex-husband Prince Andrew was also evident and the Duchess says the pair know how to work as a team for the sake of their two daughters, Princess Eugenie, 28, and Princess Beatrice, 30.

“The Duke and I have been consistent in uniting our family. This has been the culmination of steadfast co-parenting,” she revealed.

Indeed, Eugenie’s wedding marked a momentous day for Sarah Ferguson and the Royal Family.

After decades of a somewhat tense relationship with her former in-laws, the Duchess of York was welcomed back into the royal fold for the celebrations.

In another groundbreaking moment, Fergie stood directly behind her one-time father-in-law Prince Philip for the official wedding photo.

It was the first time the pair were been pictured together in 26 years after Prince Philip reportedly cut off Sarah following her divorce from Prince Andrew and several high-profile scandals in the nineties.

It just goes to prove how a wedding can bring people together!
