Royals march for 100th anniversary of Gallipoli

The Middletons joined the Royals to honour the 100th anniversary of the end of the doomed WW1 Gallipoli campaign.

A royal procession made up of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Middleton family and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh walked the 400 yards from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church to honour the 100th anniversary of the end of the tragic Gallipoli campaign that took place during World War 1, reports Daily Mail.

The campaign saw 58,000 allied troops lose their lives in what remains the bloodiest battle on foreign soil.

Kate, who celebrated her 34th birthday yesterday, looked composed and relaxed as she walked with her family – mother Carol, father Michael, and siblings James and Pippa- for the special occasion.

After the 50 minute service, the Queen and Prince Philip walked to the Sandringham war memorial where they both placed wreaths to honour the final withdrawal of the British troops from the Gallipoli peninsular.

William and Kate also visited the memorial to pay their respects.

A minute’s silence was held for those who lost their lives at Gallipoli following a moving rendition of the Last Post by a lone bugler.
