The Queen has been photographed heading to the christening of two of her great-grandchildren just a few weeks after her hospital scare.

Her Majesty was spotted in a car as it headed to All Saints Chapel in Windsor on Sunday afternoon, where she witnessed the joint christening of Zara Tindall’s son, Lucas Philip Tindall and Princess Eugenie’s son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed baby August on February 9 and were set to christen him in July, but COVID-19 restrictions delayed the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Zara and husband Mike Tindall’s son Lucas arrived on March 21 on their bathroom floor, as the pair couldn’t make it to the hospital in time.

The two boys were baptised together in what is believed to be the first joint christening in royal history, though it’s not the only sweet connection they share.

August and Lucas also share a middle name – Philip – in honour of their late great-grandfather Prince Philip, who died in April this year.

The private christening ceremony was attended by his wife, the Queen, as well as a number of other key royals, including Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Her Majesty was dressed in her signature bright style, donning a lime green coat and matching hat as she arrived for the special occasion.

It’s one of the few times she’s been spotted out and about since October, when she was forced to cancel a trip to Northern Ireland and spend a night in hospital for an undisclosed illness.

At the time, Buckingham Palace stated that the Queen was only hospitalised for “preliminary investigations”, but she has been on doctor’s orders to rest for weeks since.

The 95-year-old monarch has had to cancel key appearances at the Cop26 climate change summit and the Remembrance Sunday Service, among others.

The reasons for her cancellations have varied from needing to rest for her general health, to having suffered a back sprain that prevented her from attending in-person events.

However, the Queen was back in action late last week as she received General Sir Nick Carter for a face-to-face audience at Windsor Castle.

Meanwhile her son, Prince Charles, assured reporters that his mother was doing well while he was visiting Jordan and Egypt for a royal tour.

“She’s alright, thank you very much,” the future King told them.

“Once you get to 95, you know, it’s not quite as easy as it used to be. It’s bad enough at 73.”

It’s understood Charles also brought back a gift from Jordan to be used at August and Lucas’ baptism: Holy Water from the River Jordan.

He reportedly returned to the UK with several bottles of the water, which was collected from the river where Christians believe Jesus Christ was baptised.

It’s believed these will be used for more royal christenings in the coming years.
