The baby’s name has yet to be officially released, but People reports both mother and son are well. Princess Madeleine was admitted to Danderyd Hospital (just outside of Stockholm) early Monday morning, and the baby arrived at 1.45pm (local time).

After the birth, Princess Madeleine’s midwife Anna Astahl told media the delivery was “completely normal and uncomplicated”.

The Princess and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, reacted with “tears of joy” as their son was born, according to the attending obstetrician.

The newest addition to the Swedish royal family joins one-year-old big sister Princess Leonore, who also attended Prince Carl Philip’s wedding along with her parents. Princess Madeleine is expected to leave the hospital sometime today.

And how did Princess Leonore react to her new sibling?

“I think [she] mistook him for a doll. But it couldn’t have gone any better,” dad Christopher O’Neill told the crowds as he left the hospital.
