Meghan Markle turns to Camilla for support in lead-up to royal wedding

Their unlikely friendship could be just what both women need.

Meghan Markle is the picture of contentment and confidence in her public appearances with Prince Harry. But behind the smiles there is some reticence about royal life, sources have revealed. And it has, perhaps surprisingly, been Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who has stepped up to help Meghan alloy her misgivings.

According to the Daily Mail, Meghan is said to have begun feeling overwhelmed and an instruction issued ‘from the very top’ has ordered all Palace staff, aides and senior Royals to do everything they can to make her feel at ease as she adjusts to Palace life.

Of all the royals it has been Camilla who stepped up and invited Meghan to lunch at Clarence House.

A Daily Mail source revealed, “Camilla told Meghan to get herself to Clarence House so they could have a good long chat… The aim was for Meghan to be able to air any worries or grievances and for Camilla to help alleviate them.

“Meghan may appear confident when on Royal walkabouts, but she does have some pre-wedding butterflies – not about Harry, but about her new life.

“As Diana once famously said, there is no manual… Camilla is happy to help.”

While the life of a princess may sound incredible, Meghan Markle has had to give up a lot to be by Prince Harry’s side. She has moved countries and left behind family and friends; she has quit her acting career and her lifestyle blog, The Tig.

While she had planned to bring both her beloved dogs, Bogart and Guy, with her to England, she was devastated to have to leave Bogart behind because he was too old to fly. In a gesture of great empathy, Prince Harry bought the former Suits actress a new puppy.

Life as Meghan Markle knew it will never be the same again.

“KP [Kensington Palace] is beautiful, but when Meghan wakes up she has nowhere to go, really. She can’t potter about on the High Street, attend gym classes, or jog around Hyde Park. Instead she is confined to yoga at home or visits to Kate and William…”

Kate and Meghan have clearly bonded, but with two children to look after and a third baby on the way, Kate may not have as much time as she’d like to be there for Meghan.

Camilla has weathered varying degrees of animosity from the British public and this unlikely friendship may be just what both women need.
