On August 4th the Duchess of Sussex celebrated her 38th birthday in what was reported to be a low-key affair spent with Prince Harry and baby Archie at her home Frogmore Cottage.

To mark the special day Sussex Royal shared a beautiful photo of the royal along with a sweet message from Prince Harry included in the caption.

“Happy Birthday to my amazing wife,” Harry wrote.

“Thank you for joining me on this adventure.”

And now it’s been exclusively revealed to Hello! that the Duchess received a very delicious surprise for her birthday in the form of a cake from a bakery very close to the royal’s heart.

According to the publication the birthday cake Meghan received was from Luminary Bakery in east London, the same bakery which Meghan featured in her guest-edited issue of British Vogue.

While it’s not revealed exactly what flavour the cake was, or what it looked like, a quick browse on their Instagram page shows it was bound to have been as gorgeous as it was delicious.

Luminary Bakery is an all-female bakery which was launched in 2014 to support and empower women who have been affected by poverty, violence or trauma and is just one of the many grassroots organisations Meghan highlight in her ‘Forces for Change’ British Vogue issue.

To thank them for their involvement in the issue and for the amazing work that they do, Luminary Bakery shared a note sent to them by Meghan on Twitter, which also puts her impeccable handwriting on full-display.

“Dear Alice, when I knew I would be secretly guest editing the September issue of British Vogue, including Luminary Bakery was non-negotiable,” Meghan’s penned.

“The work you do, what you present to the community the spirit of the women there – you all embody what it means to be ‘forces for change’.

“Thank you for being a part of this special project,” she adds, signing the note simply, “Meghan”.

In a follow up tweet the bakery shared their excitement at being included in the issue writing: “What an incredible day it’s been with the release of @BritishVogue guest edited by HRH Duchess of Sussex which features an article about Luminary!

“We are still pinching ourselves that we’ve gotten to be a part of this special issue.”

Duchess Meghan is currently on maternity leave from royal duties after giving birth to her first son with Prince Harry, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor in early May, however she has made several surprise appearances in public since and of revealed at the end of July that she had been working on her guest edited the September issue of the iconic British Vogue throughout her pregnancy and maternity leave.

The Duchess has also announced she will be releasing a capsule clothing collection which will benefit one of her patronages Smart Works and there are reports she may be working on a children’s book about her dogs, which is said could be in collaboration with another of her patronages, the animal charity Mayhew.

It’s thought Meghan will return to her royal duties in October, where she’s set to undertake a royal tour to southern Africa with Harry and Archie, which will mark their first royal tour as a family-of-three.
