They confirmed they were dating earlier this year, after rumours swirled about their burgeoning romance.

And now the paparazzi have finally caught up with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, capturing a shot of the couple walking together in Piccadilly Circus, London.

In matching winter hats and smart coats, the couple were apparently headed to the Apollo Theatre that evening.

The Prince was forced to issue a public statement back in November, after intrusion into his American girlfriend’s life became too great.

Part of the statement read: “The past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public – the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.

Meghan Markle gets royal stamp of approval.

“…Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”

In the statement, Harry makes clear that while he understands the price of fame, he also feels “this is not a game,” and wants his girlfriend to be able to live as normal life as possible.

The statement is considered highly unusual for the royal family, who rarely comment on such matters, let alone confirm a relationship until engagement.

Meghan, who is 35, has appeared in a string of TV shows and movies, most notably American series Suits.

She was married to Trevor Engleson in 2011, before they divorced in 2013.
