Meghan Markle and Michelle Obama spark up close bond after reported private power meeting

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Barack Obama share a close bond, and now their wives do too.

Meghan Markle attended former American First Lady Michelle Obama’s intimate talk earlier this week to promote her new memoir, Becoming.

The 54-year-old discussed her autobiography with novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie at the Southbank Centre in London on Monday December 3 in front of a whopping 2,700 people. But it was after the public discussion that the fun began and Meghan, 37, and Michelle’s friendship blossomed.

The former Suits actress – who is expecting her first child with husband Prince Harry – enjoyed a private chat with former US President Barack Obama’s wife, where they found they had a lot more in common than they thought.

During their conversation the pair opened up about their philanthropic and charity work, as they are both focused on empowering women and boosting education among females.

The duo also opened up about their shared experiences of pregnancy and motherhood.

A source told the Evening Standard: “They had a long private audience with Michelle. They spoke at length about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities. They also talked about shared experiences of pregnancy and raising children, plus shared causes such as girls’ education.”

The Duchess of Sussex and Michelle Obama intend on being lifelong friends as they have vowed to stay in touch. The insider added: “They planned to stay in contact.”

Michelle has previously likened herself with Meghan. Speaking previously to Good Housekeeping magazine, she said: “Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she’d have a life like this, and the pressure you feel – from yourself and from others – can sometimes feel like a lot.”

Does anyone else feel left out? We certainly want in on this power duo.
