Steeped in hundreds of years of tradition, the British Royal Family really is the epitome of poise and grace – but don’t assume that means they don’t have a great sense of humour.
And perhaps it’s because of this reputation of them always being so well composed, when they do slip in a cheeky remark, hilarious anecdote or even an eye-roll, it makes it all the more funnier!
In fact the younger royals in particular have been giving us all a good chuckle lately, whether it’s Prince Louis constantly looking unimpressed to Prince George’s expressions of boredom – kids definitely tell it like it is.
One funny habit the younger royals seems to have taken a liking to recently though, is to stick out their tongues – what with Princess Charlotte at the sailing regatta recently and Prince Louis at the charity polo match – and as we soon discovered, it’s something the whole royal family has been partial to some time or another.

When this image of Princess Charlotte emerged from the Cambridge family’s day out at the King’s Cup Sailing Regatta, people were amused when Charlotte decided to poke her tongue out at the crowd instead of giving her signature wave.
However it was later revealed by Hello! that the cheeky gesture was in fact directed at her grandfather, Michael Middleton, who she had spotted in the crowd, showing us all a rare but delightful insight into their playful relationship.

She stole the show as a member of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bridal party in May and perhaps it was this priceless snap of Princess Charlotte that made it all the more iconic. Dressed in an ivory Givenchy dress complete with a flower crown, the youngster went off-script for a split second as she made her way to the ceremony.

Prince George marked his first public celebration of his great-grandmother’s birthday by wagging his tongue out the window of Buckingham Palace – which also marked the start of some iconic images of George peering through windows too.
