The film, called Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, is directed by Alex Gibney and based on a book written by Lawrence Wright, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author.
At a recent ‘TimesTalks’ panel discussing the film, they explained why the documentary focuses in part on Tom Cruise and John Travolta, two of the most famous members of the church.
