As one of the most-hyped movies ever, Fifty Shades of Grey was always destined to make a big splash – and it’s certainly done that this past weekend!
Industry sources report that Fifty Shades has raked in US$81.67 million so far, and the studio expects that figure to reach over $90 million by the fourth day of its release. That makes the raunchy film a record-breaker for its opening weekend, going well above rom-com Valentine’s Day‘s previous record of $56.3 million.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has already signed on for a potential sequel, and if the reaction to the first film is any indication, it seems audiences can’t resist the charm of Mr Grey!
