Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldana recently revealed her husband, Italian artist Marco Perego, had taken her surname instead of keeping his own.
In an interview with InStyle, the mother-of-two said she initially tried to talk her husband out of it, fearing he would be ridiculed for taking her last name.
“If you use my name, you’re going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world,” she described telling him at the time.
Marco, however, wasn’t fazed.
“[He] looks up at me and says, ‘Ah, Zoe, I don’t give a s**t,'” she told the magazine.

Unfortunately, it seems like others weren’t so quick to brush off the news. Zoe and Marco’s revelation prompted a bit of backlash online, which the actress has since addressed on Facebook.
“Fathers, sons, brothers, men everywhere: Your legacy will not perish if you take your partner’s surname, or she keeps hers,” she wrote in a statement posted to Facebook.
