Hockey champion Gemma Flynn’s star turn in the wedding-reality show Say Yes To The Dress gives us a sneak peak into her bridal style, and reveals the sports star is close to finding her perfect look.

The episode which aired on Sky’s TLC follows Gemma – with family and friends in tow – around Sydney as she tries to pick out a gown for the glamorous day.

Arriving at the upmarket Brides of Sydney, Gemma reveals her $6000 to $8000 price range, as well as her bridal brief: classic, elegant and timeless.

“I want to look back in years to come and I don’t want it to date,” the beautiful bride-to-be said.

While Gemma’s upcoming marriage to All Blacks superstar Richie McCaw will no doubt be the wedding of 2017, she was modest when mentioning her future husband.

“My fiancé is Richie McCaw, he used to play a little bit of rugby but now he’s actually a commercial pilot,” she said to store assistant Rosalie.

Under expert guidance of the show’s fashion director and couture wedding designer Adam Dixon, gorgeous Gemma is given a selection of gowns to try on which she models for her mum Michelle, her best mate and two cousins.

Adam told Woman’s Day each dress was “a step up from the average.”

Wedding dress expert Adam Dixon helps Gemma in her quest to find her exact look.

Dress number one “Allure Romance” didn’t quite hit the mark.

Her mother, whose opinion on all things wedding-related Gemma trusts, gave her daughter some clear-eyed guidance on her first choice.

“Can I be honest though? It looks a bit like a nightie.”

Dress number two – a form-fitting, sequined affair was met with a better response although her cousin wasn’t quite on board with the dress’s pared-back style.

“I hate to be the wicked witch,” she said “but I hate it, it’s so basic.”

Will this dress with it’s special uniqueness be the one?

Saving the best till last – dress number three was greeted with a round of “ooohs” and “ahhs” as Gemma glided out of the fitting rooms.

When asked by Dixon if she would be saying yes to the dress, Gemma kept her cards close to her chest, simply saying “maybe”.

In a candid camera confession, Gemma said she needed to give herself time to see herself in the dress and think really hard “if it’s the one”.
