Talkback radio host, author and marathon runner, Kerre McIvor, 50, has led a colourful life in the spotlight. From reporting for Fair Go to hosting talkback radio, she’s been an influence in New Zealand current affairs for decades.

But life for the vivacious broadcaster hasn’t always been easy. A single mother in her twenties, she’s come a long way from living in a one bedroom flat with a mattress on the floor.

The former Ready, Steady, Cook presenter has also battled with her weight over the years. In her book Short Fat Chick to Marathon Runner she details her journey from being “forty, overweight and depressed” to getting her life back. Her honest, heartwarming and hilarious account has inspired thousands of Kiwi women.

Now a dedicated runner, pilates practitioner and happily married, Kerre talks about her life and what she’s learnt along the way.
