TVNZ’s Breakfast returned to our screens this morning with the new hosting duo of Hilary Barry and Jack Tame taking their places in front of the camera for the very first time.
Joined by weather presenter Sam Wallace, newsreader Daniel Faitaua and sports reporter Brodie Kane, Hilary and Jack kicked things off with a quick round of introductions behind the Breakfast desk before settling into the busy lineup for today’s show.
The pair have taken over from previous hosts Rawdon Christie and Nadine Chalmers-Ross, who said their farewells to the morning news programme last week.

In their Breakfast debut, Hilary and Jack chatted to Kiwi Paralympics champ Liam Malone live from Rio as well as Hunt for the Wilderpeople actress Rachel House.
In her revealing interview with Woman’s Day ahead of today’s Breakfast show, veteran broadcaster Hilary said she was “genuinely excited” at this next chapter in her career – her first role with TVNZ after 23 years with TV3.
“I’ve been a fan of Jack’s for a long time … I do feel very confident this is a combination that’s really going to work,” she said.
And the admiration is mutual, with Jack – who has returned to New Zealand after five years of work as TVNZ’s US correspondent – telling Woman’s Day that Hilary’s “reputation absolutely precedes her”.
“She’s just so widely considered to be incredible professionally but also a lovely person.”
