Vin (real name Mark Sinclair Vincent) welcomed his third child with girlfriend Paloma Jimenez on March 17 and earlier today, he revealed his newborn daughter’s name: Pauline.
‘Pauline’ was chosen in honour of Paul Walker, Vin Diesel’s late castmate and close friend, who he called ‘Pablo’.
Paul’s tragic death in November 2013 shocked many, including his Fast and Furious family. The actor and father passed away at the age of 40, after the car he was a passenger in crashed.
After Paul’s untimely death, filming on Fast and Furious 7 was delayed so the script could be rewritten, and the actor’s brothers Cody and Caleb stepped in to help complete the character’s final scenes.
Shooting and promoting the movie, which is due to be released in theatres from April, was an emotional process for the cast and crew. For Vin, naming his daughter after Paul was a way to keep the memory alive.
“He was in the room,” Vin said of his daughter’s birth.
“There’s no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I just … knew he was there,” he went on.
“It felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world.”
