Ever since Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s very public romance hit headlines, speculation has been building over whether the couple – dubbed ‘Hiddleswift’ – are the real thing.

Manufactured romances have long been rumoured to be a Hollywood staple, but according to Tom himself, his relationship with the ‘Blank Space’ singer has nothing to do with PR.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old – who scooped up an Emmy nomination this morning for his role in The Night Manager – laughed off the claims surrounding his new romance.

“Well, um. How best to put this? That notion is – look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we’re very happy,” he said.

“Thanks for asking. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.”

The couple, whose romance was revealed just two weeks after Taylor split from ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, have been enjoying a whirlwind jaunt around the world together in the past few weeks.

After canoodling on the beach near Taylor’s Rhode Island mansion, the pair were pictured meeting her parents in Nashville and then his parents in Suffolk, England, before jetting off to Rome to see the sights.

Currently, the pair are Down Under where Tom is filming Thor: Ragnarok with Kiwi director Taika Waititi.

Their public PDA sessions seemingly haven’t gone unnoticed by Taylor’s ex-flame Calvin, who took to Twitter yesterday to air out what looked to be some serious bad blood.

After Taylor’s team told People the star had secretly written Calvin’s hit with Rihanna, called ‘This Is What You Came For’, Calvin fired back, calling it “hurtful” that Taylor and her team would “try and make ME look bad at this stage though”.

“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do,” he added, taking a not-so-subtle dig at Hiddleswift.

“I know you’re off on tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC, but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”

Taylor has yet to publicly respond to her ex-boyfriend’s rant, but Instagram users have been flooding her page with comments of snake emojis, and the hashtag #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty began trending on Twitter shortly after the news broke.

In more bad news for the singer, Kim Kardashian – wife of Taylor’s arch-nemesis Kanye West – is opening up about her husband’s feud with Taylor in a new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Taylor and Kanye have been engaged in a public spat over the lyrics to his song ‘Famous’, in which he raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that b—h famous”. Kanye said Taylor signed off on the lyrics before he released the track, while Taylor’s camp insists she never gave her approval.

In a later interview with GQ about the scandal, Kim claimed Taylor definitely knew about the lyrics and even said they had a recording of the pop star giving her blessing for the song.

Talking it over with sister Kourtney, Kim says Taylor was “in on it”.

“And then she just didn’t like the reaction?” Kourtney asked.

“Yeah, and you know, just another way to play the victim – definitely got her a lot of attention the first time,” Kim replied.

“I feel like I’ve had it with people blatantly treating my husband a certain way and making him look a certain way.”
