The funny man introduces us to his little bundle of joy

Not only has funnyman Tim Wilson been doing his usual talk show slot on Newstalk ZB and fronting Seven Sharp while Mike Hosking has been away, the quick-witted journalist has also been playing doting dad to a new-born!

Introducing the newest member of Tim and wife Rachel’s family, Felix Tudehope Wilson!

“Felix is such a lovely little guy,” gushes doting dad Tim.

It wasn’t that long ago that Woman’s Day spoke to the expectant parents – who also have 16-month-old son Roman – about the arrival of baby number two.

Tim says, “Having our first baby didn’t live up to the billing lots of people gave it, like, ‘Your life will be over, you won’t sleep again until it turns 16.’ All that stuff. But we actually found that life was quite normal.

“Now we’re getting, ‘Our first kid was an angel too. Just you wait until the demon second baby comes along.’ People love horror stories!”

But hold fire on the scary tales – for now. While wee Felix made a speedy entrance into the world in March, it hasn’t been smooth sailing since then.

“Felix was colicky,” says Tim. “He wouldn’t sleep, he wouldn’t settle, he wouldn’t feed. He cried – a lot.”

Tim, 50, and Rachel, 30 – who married in 2014 after meeting at Auckland’s St Patrick’s Cathedral – tried many techniques and therapies to get the colic under control, even hiring a baby whisperer!

“People say, “Oh, it’s just colic. Once the digestive system starts to develop, it will be fine. But when you’re going through it, you just look at them and think, ‘You don’t know anything. This is what my life is like and it will always be like this,’” says Tim, adding, “But it’s still totally worth it.”

Thankfully, the colic passed after eight agonising weeks.
