The longest marriages in Hollywood

These loved-up Hollywood couples have stood the test of time!

They say that celebrity marriages don’t last – but someone forgot to tell these long-time sweethearts!

From Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness to Denzel and Pauletta Washington, these Hollywood lovebirds have stood the test of time.

Here are some of Hollywood’s most enduring couples

Meryl Streep and Don Gummer: Not only is Meryl married to a normal person, she has been married to that normal person since 1978! That’s almost 40 years! Don is a well known sculptor, standing equal to the impressive career of his famous wife. The couple has four children together, one for each decade of marriage.

Oprah and Stedman Graham: This one is adorable and technically not right for this list. Oprah and her dashing man have been together since 1986 and engaged since 1992, but she has vowed never to get married because Stedman, an educator, author, businessman and speaker, is a traditional man and her schedule has meant that they would not have had a traditional marriage and would no longer be together today.

She stated that she believed, had she gotten married, she ‘could not have had the life she built’. Because of this, she has been engaged to Stedman for 25 years.

Lisa Kudrow and Michel Stern: Friends actress Lisa Kudrow married her French advertising executive beau in 1995, at the height of the Friends hype. They have one son, named Julian – Lisa’s pregnancy with him was written into the plot of Friends, her character Phoebe Buffay having triplets as a surrogate mother for her brother Frank and his wife Alice because they were not able to have children.

Since 1983: Denzel and Pauletta Washington

The pair started dating in 1977, yet Denzel had to pop the question to Pauletta three times before she said yes to marriage. They renewed their vows in 1995 in South Africa, in a ceremony officiated by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a famous opponent of apartheid.

Since 2002: Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.

This marriage makes the list because these two have stayed together ever since they met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Did we mention these two played the classic couple Fred and Daphne in the 2002 movie Scooby-Doo when they were only newlyweds? Too cute.

From 1988 – Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick: This 80’s heart throb couple met on the set of Lemon Sky and got married within the year of its release. Since Lemon Sky the lovebirds have starred together in Pyrates, Murder in the First, The Woodsman, and Loverboy.

Since 1997: Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick

The characters these two have played are so iconic that we can’t help thinking that Carrie Bradshaw would have hit it off with Ferris Bueller. The stars started dating in 1991, and met as stage actors on the set of Sylvia.

SJP had dated Robert Downey, Jr. and John F. Kennedy Jr. before meeting Matthew, so the bar was high!

Since 1988: Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan

Loved-up Michael Fox married wife Tracy the year after they started dating! The pair met in 1985 on the set of Family Ties, but were both dating other people at the time. Fate brought them back together again on the set of Bright Lights, Big City in 1987 and they started dating.

Since 1996: Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness

After tying the knot only a year after their first meeting, this couple has taken every opportunity to publicly display their love on the red carpet, leaving no one in doubt of their love. Watch the couple supporting kids through cancer treatment in the video on the next slide.

Since 1980: Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson

With a prolific film career and plenty of box office hits under his belt, Samuel L. Jackson has lived a charmed professional life. Looking at his marriage to LaTanya, his personal life has been blessed too! LaTanya is an actress and sports channel producer who met Samuel at Morehouse College, where he majored in architecture.

Since 1997: Snoop Dogg and Shante Broadus These high school sweethearts actually divorced in 2004 citing irreconcilable differences. Those differences proved reconcilable, because they re-married in 2008.

Since 1999: David and Victoria Beckham

It is widely known that “Posh & Becks” are the parents of some of the cutest and most stylish kids in the world, and looking at this photo (taken when Posh was still Victoria Adams), it is little wonder.

Since 1997: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

Now the parents of Trey, Willow, and Jaden Smith, this cute couple met when Jada auditioned to play Will’s girlfriend in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, didn’t get the part, snagging the role of his real-life girlfriend instead in 1994. The happy couple is still seen holding hands on the red carpet.
