The actress has been one of the more memorable contestants on the TV3 reality show, whether she was wowing the judges with her rumba or dividing opinions with her controversial cha-cha.

While we’ll miss seeing her on the dancefloor, the feisty Shortland Street star said she had an “incredible time” on the show with her “amazing” partner Scott Cole.

Her chosen charity, Women’s Refuge, holds a special place in Teuila’s heart and even though she won’t be dancing for them any more, DWTS gave her an opportunity to be a public face and voice for the organisation.

After dancing her way through five weeks of the competition, Teuila Blakely’s journey on Dancing with the Stars NZ came to an end last night.

The actress has been one of the more memorable contestants on the TV3 reality show, whether she was wowing the judges with her rumba or dividing opinions with her controversial cha-cha.

In week one of the competition, Teuila and her partner Scott Cole were the very first couple to step onto the dancefloor for this season of DWTS.

They scored 17 points for their jive to ‘Happy’, placing them in the sixth spot (out of 10 total contestants) for the first week.

In week two of the competition, Teuila and Scott turned in a smooth foxtrot.

The judges gave the duo a score of 21, leaving them tied for second-highest score of the night along with Colin Mathura-Jeffree and Kristie Williams.

In week three Teuila earned a score of 25, her highest on the show, for her sultry rumba.

Thanks to that amazing score, Teuila and Scott landed at the top of the leaderboard for the week and and the judges praised their “beautiful” performance.

Unfortunately, Teuila and Scott’s hip-hop-infused cha-cha didn’t go down so well the next week.

And while she and Scott redeemed themselves with their X-Men-themed paso doble on Sunday night, it wasn’t enough to keep the star on the show.

Even though the journey was tough going at times, Teuila said she felt proud of herself and had an “incredible” time. “I have broken any kind of limits I’ve had previously,” she said on Monday night’s episode.
