The rocker recently visited Melbourne where he wowed a packed stadium of 100,000 fans on AFL Grand Final day.

The star said he stuck around to watch the exciting match between the Western Bulldogs and the Sydney Swans and enjoyed the experience so much, he’d like to come to New Zealand and do the same for our top team.

“The game in Melbourne was fantastic, and it was played at 100 kilometres an hour,” he told NZME. “But the All Blacks are the best rugby team in the world and it would be great to see them do their stuff.

“I’d love to come down to New Zealand do a few songs before one of the big All Black matches but no one has asked me yet.”

According to reports, the former-Police frontman picked up a fee of around $1.2 million for the three-song set, while heading the pre-match entertainment.

Sting last played in New Zealand in January on a double bill with Paul Simon at Auckland’s Vector Arena.

The hit-maker also celebrated his 65th birthday in Melbourne, and while the milestone doesn’t appear to have fazed him too much, he’s passing up any perks of pensionerhood.

“Turning 65 didn’t bother me but I don’t think I’d have the nerve to pick up my bus pass or state pension.”
