Black was whack and bold was beautiful at this year’s Emmy. The best-dressed lists were dominated by stars in brightly-coloured frocks and those in darker shades were deemed dowdy.
Glitter and sparkle were also key trends, with ‘Fashion Police’ star Kelly Osbourne choosing nail varnish containing crushed black diamonds, created by LA-based luxury jeweller Azature. One pot of the 267-carat diamond polish will set you back $300,000 – but fortunately, Kelly didn’t have to pay for it!
Who do you think was the best dressed?

Heidi-Klum
Heidi Klum: We know she’s recently single, but the former model and TV host should consider whether she needs to be this revealing or should Heidi something for later.

Sofia-Vergara
Sofia Vergara: Never the less than stunning, The ‘Modern Family’ star came as close as anyone to stealing the show with a neon-hued gown that was all about old-fashioned glamour.

Hayden Panettiere: We’re not sure about this: not really a gown, not really safi. Not really a good idea. 5/10

Julianna-Hough
Julianne Hough: The stunning dancer and ‘Rock of Ages’ star rocked the ages in a fairy tale gown that would make anyone the belle of the ball. No need to go off in a Hough.

Zooey-Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel: We;ve never thought there was anything even remotely zoo-ey about her, though in this frothy piece of fun she looks almost inhumanly gorgeous. 8/10

Nicole-Kidman
Nicole Kidman: Sometimes a fashion gamble pays off – and sometimes it lopoks as if someone has gone nuts in Mum’s fabric drawer with scissors and a pot of paste.

Ginnifer-Goodwin
Once Uon a Time, someone who plays Snow White in a TV show took Cinderella’s advice the wrong way and ended up wearing something unsuitable to the ball. 6/10

Padma-Lakshmi
Padma Lakshmi: The sun might have come competition: this dress, with its “hey-you

Julianna-Margulies
Julianna Margulies: This dress could have looked fantastic – covering a bed, perhaps. The designer is obviously some sort of floral deliquent. 4/10.

Giuliana-Rancic
When most of your peers have elected to cover up, this display of leg in so-so sheath looks a little try hard. We suggest trying harder not to look like you’re trying hard. 6/10

Claire Danes: On her way to an acting award, the ‘Homeland’ star looked good as gold in this ravishingly radiant raiment. The great Danes was a winner in more ways than just one. 8/10
