Sonny Bill Williams is remaining positive today, despite receiving an injury during the All Blacks’ Olympic opener that will likely see him out of action for many months.

The popular rugby star received an injury to his Achilles during New Zealand’s match against Japan – which they lost on Tuesday.

After Williams’ injury early on in the second half, Japan managed to secure a 14-12 win over the All Black squad – which shocked viewers around the world.

Japanese player Lomano Lemeki admitted that Sonny Bill was a main worry for the side, and that their game plan was to try and stop him.

“Sonny Bill’s a good player, no doubt. But we look at every player as a good player on the New Zealand team,” he said.

After crashing out of the Olympics, Sonny tweeted a picture of him and his crutches, writing: “Down but never out, always praise to the most high for blessing me with so much! Let’s go @nz7s we still in this.”

However the Kiwi side bounced back a day later, beating Kenya 28-5 in the tournament.

Next up, the All Blacks face off against Great Britain – which will take place at 3.30AM on Thursday morning.
