The song won’t just be limited to the show’s season closing either. It’s now been recorded by Lionel Wellington (Leroy) and JJ Fong (Ruby) as a single and will be released to raise money for charity, NZME reports.

“When Shortland Street asked me to record a song I didn’t hesitate. I got to be in the same recording studio as many great NZ music artists and lend my voice for a great cause,” JJ said.

The song is entitled Time of the Year and is available for download (presale) today.

Proceeds from the single will go to the Starship Foundation in support of the children’s hospital.
