Legendary actress Lauren Bacall has passed away age 89. The actress reportedly died of a stroke at her Los Angeles home on Tuesday morning (local time).
The actress was married to actor Humphrey Bogart for several years, with a rep for the Bogart family issuing the following statement on Twitter.
Lauren was born Betty Joan Perske on on September 16, 1924.
“With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall.”
She made her film debut in To Have and Have Not age 19 opposite her future husband Humphrey Bogart.
The pair married in 1945 and were together until his death in 1957. They had two children together, Stephen and and Leslie Bogart.
Lauren later married actor Jason Robards Jnr, with the couple having one child, Sam Robards.
During her seven-decade stage and screen career she starred in more than 60 films. Notable among them are To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, How to Marry a Millionaire, and The Mirror Has Two Faces.
Admired by many, the actress won many awards during her career, including a Tony Award, Screen Actors Guild award, and Golden Globe.
