Scarlett Johansson didn’t pull any punches during her appearance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, especially when it came to taking jabs at the current state of American politics.
The star of the upcoming Ghost in the Shell took on none other than Ivanka Trump herself for a hilarious sketch involving a fake advertisement for a perfume called “Complicit” (a reference to Ivanka’s involvement with her father’s views).
“She’s a woman who knows what she wants. And knows what she’s doing. Complicit,” the voiceover for the spoof ad states.
The narrator continues: “A feminist, an advocate, a champion for women, but like how?”
As ‘Ivanka’ is putting on lipstick in a mirror, we hear, “She doesn’t crave the spotlight, but we see her. Oh, how we see her.” The camera then reveals the reflection in the mirror is Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump.
It concludes: “Complicit: The fragrance for the woman who could stop all of this but won’t.”
This latest spoof comes after the POTUS and his advisor Kellyanne Conway landed themselves in hot water for spruiking Ivanka’s products.
Trump also slammed Nordstrom for dropping his daughter’s line in an unprecedented move.
We’re not sure what our favourite Trump SNL skit is now we have Melissa McCarthy, Alec Baldwin AND Scarlett Johansson to choose from.
Scarlett was joined by none other than Kiwi star Lorde for the Saturday Night Live episode, with the 20-year-old songstress performing her songs “Green Light” and “Liability” from her upcoming album Melodrama.
Not content to just perform, Lorde also showed off her comedic chops with an appearance in an International Women’s Day-themed sketch alongside Scarlett and several SNL cast members.
