Scarlett, who welcomed her first child Rose Dorothy with hubby Romain Dauriac in September last year, says she was "so surprised" when her newborn daughter entered the world.
"I had a very strong picture in my mind of what my baby would look like," she revealed to W magazine.
"And, of course, she is completely different. Perfect, but not what I’d imagined. Now, of course, I can’t picture her any other way."
The first-time mum has been busy settling into her new life as a parent, but she won't be gone from our screens for long. Come May, she'll be back as the feisty assassin Black Widow in the much-hyped sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
She has also come off a hugely successful year in 2014, starring in the action thriller Lucy and the arthouse film Under the Skin - both of which were notable for being one of the few female-led movies released during that year.
Thanks to her critical and commercial hits, it would seem she has the Hollywood career down pat - but it wasn't always that way. Scarlett remembers struggling to book commercials as a child actress, confessing that she was "terrible at selling things".
"I never got those parts. I remember crying in the subway, and my mom said, ‘Look—let’s forget it. Do something else.’"
Luckily for Scarlett, she stuck to her gut instincts, telling her mother she couldn't "take this away" from her.
"Waiting for that B train, I had my come-to-Jesus moment," she revealed.
