Ryan Gosling has won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical thanks to his role in La La Land.

But the star used his acceptance speech to thank his partner, Eva Mendes, for looking after his two daughters while he worked.

And in a touching display, the 40-year-old dedicated his award to Eva’s late brother, who tragically lost his battle with cancer.

Eva’s older brother Carlos Mendes, 53, sadly lost his battle with cancer in May last year.

“I’d like to dedicate to his memory,” a teary Ryan announced as he proudly held up his award.

Continuing on, the actor praised Eva for holding up the family unit while he filmed.

“While I was singing and dancing and playing piano … my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother with his battle with cancer. If she hand’t taken that on, I couldn’t have had that experience,” the father-of-two added.

“Sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters, I love you,” he concluded.

What a moment! Ryan dedicated his award to partner Eva’s late brother.

Eva and Ryan are the proud parents to daughters Esmeralda, two, and Amada, eight months old.

Speaking of their family life recently, Ryan revealed he was loving fatherhood.

“Eva’s the dream mother, and they’re dream babies, and it’s like a dream that I’m having right now. I’m dreaming it all. So I feel so lucky,” he told GQ Magazine.

“When you meet your kids you realise that they deserve great parents. And then you have your marching orders and you have to try and become the person that they deserve.”
