On Monday Russell Brand confirmed he’d welcomed his first child with his fiancée Laura Gallacher, 27, and the proud new parents have named her Mabel, meaning ‘beautiful and lovable’ in Latin.
The first-time dad told his audience of the news during a show in at the Nottingham Playhouse over the weekend.
“He didn’t confirm if it was a girl or a boy. He was conscious of the clock and made sure he was off stage by just approaching 9pm as he ‘needed to get down the f***ing M21 as my girlfriend has just had a baby,’” reported a fan.
The actor and comedian has previously spoken out about his plans to raise his child gender-neutral.
“We don’t know the gender I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, let the child grow up and be the whatever the hell it is, never tell it there is such a concept.”
Speaking recently to The Evening Standard, the star revealed he couldn’t wait to become a dad.

“I feel lit up by the idea I’m very excited about becoming a dad and I’m preparing myself. I am just getting ready to be with a new little person and see what it is they want.”
Russell was previously married to pop star Katy Perry, but has reportedly had an on/off relationship with Laura since 2007, the Mirror reports.
