Lorde (real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor) and her boyfriend of three years, photographer James Lowe, have reportedly gone their separate ways.
The couple had been together since 2013 and weathered Lorde’s meteoric rise through the music industry together, with James at her side for every step of the journey.
However, the Herald reports that the pair actually called it quits near the end of last year, and the two haven’t appeared on each other’s social media pages for several months.
Lorde’s last mention of James was in September, when she posted a picture of him with the caption “facetime angel”.
In 2014, James wrote a blog entry describing what it was like carrying out a relationship in the public eye.
“Jared Leto said that fame doesn’t change you, it changes everyone around you. While I’m not the centre of attention here (and f**k, the times I have, it’s never been fun), I do become aware of the people around me and their transparency. They fail to hide it,” he wrote.
While the pair have yet to comment on the news, it’s clear Lorde has been hard at work over the past few months. In September, she released a sultry new music video for her single Magnets (a collaboration with British duo Disclosure) and has since dropped hints about an upcoming album. The star reportedly also purchased her first property, a villa in Auckland’s Herne Bay, for almost $3 million.

However, Lorde isn’t the only New Zealand celebrity going through a reported breakup. Max Key and his girlfriend Amelia Finlayson have also split, with the teen confirming the news to Scout.
Max, 20, and Amelia, 18, had been together for over a year and gained notoriety when a video of their Hawaiian holiday (posted on Max’s YouTube page) went viral. ZM reports that Amelia (a model and Miss Auckland finalist in 2015) was the one who initiated the breakup.
