Boy band One Direction have arrived in New Zealand, touching down at Christchurch airport in a private jet. Canterbury fans caught a glimpse of band members Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan as they walked off the plane ahead of their  concert tonight at CBS Canterbury Arena.

With 7000 tickets, the show is the smallest of their world wide tour, but Christchurch fans turned out in droves to see a a glimpse of their favourites, and the hashtag #WelcometoNZ!D trended on Twitter. “Just seen the trends! Thank you for having us down in NZ , we have been waiting a long time t get back down here,” wrote Niall after touching down. The band  are headed to sound checks but Louis took the opportunity to play soccer on a park near the stadium.

The band will fly out of Christchurch tonight for Auckland after their concert ahead of their two concerts at the Vector Arena.
