They’ve come a long way since their days as fresh-faced newcomers on The X Factor, but last night proved to be an emotional end to the journey as the boys of One Direction played the last gig of their world tour.
Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson ended their ‘On The Road’ tour in Sheffield, England, in front of thousands of devoted fans.
The gig is their last scheduled show before their extended break beginning in March 2016, although the boys do have a few appearances at awards shows coming up.
To the disappointment of some fans, ex-band member Zayn Malik was a no-show at the gig and the rest of One Direction made no mention of him throughout the night. However, the group were clearly feeling the love as they ran through their extensive set list.
“I still can’t believe this. I remember five years ago when this all started,” Niall said while on stage.
“Our first gig was a little nightclub in Scotland.”
Afterwards, Harry took to Twitter to send his heartfelt thanks to the band’s fans.
