The stars were out in force on the yellow carpet last night for the world premiere of Pork Pie, a remake of the classic Kiwi road movie.
Leading man Dean O’Gorman told Woman’s Day he has fond memories of his first car, a Toyota Starlet. He says, “It had such a small motor in it, people called it a sewing machine, but it never broke down.”
Boy actor James Rolleston’s first car was a Toyota Altezer, which was what he was driving when he suffered a near-fatal crash just weeks after filming Pork Pie. But he’s now back on his feet and says of the accident, “It’s just opened my eyes up to how precious my life was and how I’m so thankful for all the little things.”
Meanwhile, Aussie actress Ashleigh Cummings – looking gorgeous in a colourful Gorman gown – was nervous about her Kiwi accent, which required a voice coach to perfect. But she nailed it on the carpet, sounding like a local as she told us, “I can’t switch it on and off, but if I stay in it for a while, it’s sweet as, bro!”
