Aroha’17 Festival Ideas, the Mika Haka Foundation’s annual diversity and social change festival, kicked off with a bang last night with a one-night-only film festival at Auckland’s Event Cinemas Broadway.
Guests walked the red carpet which had a theme of “dress to express” before settling in to watch short films from around the world. A highlight of this year’s programme was the world premiere of In The Morning, a short music film starring Keisha Castle-Hughes.
Another standout feature from the night was the psychological horror The Unbidden, directed by Quentin Lee (Ethan Mal, White Frog) starring Tamlyn Tomita (The Day After Tomorrow), Amy Hill (UnREAL), Julia Nickson (Rambo First Blood: Part III) and Hayden Szeto (The Edge of Seventeen).
