The famous folk behind the microphones stepped out of their studios for the recent New Zealand Radio Awards at Auckland’s SkyCity Theatre.
Big winners on the night were More FM’s Jay-Jay Feeney and Paul “Flynny” Flynn, who picked up the prize for Best Music Network Team. Still glowing from his recent wedding, Flynny told us, “We didn’t expect to win. We came for the free bubbly, but it tastes a whole lot sweeter now.”
Our columnist Jay-Jay added, “OMG, I’m so surprised but really happy. It’s such a competitive industry and this gives us the confidence to keep going.”
Former Today FM star Wilhelmina Shrimpton won both Best News Journalist and Best Long Form Video. “This is testament to the amazing work we did at Today FM,” she said.
Meanwhile, Petra Bagust won for her podcast Grey Areas, telling us, “I’m completely stoked. I love that the women of New Zealand have embraced it as their own.”
