The first track from GEM (their new name due to former Spice Girls Victoria and Mel C wanting no part in proceedings), has been leaked online – and it’s certainly something special.

Song for Her hit the internet on Thursday, and it’s already getting rave reviews for its girl power stylings.

But it’s not just the lyrics that have got people talking. Some UK based outlets have been speculating about why the track starts to fade out exactly at the three minute mark, with some suggesting the girls could be in consideration for the UK’s entry into Eurovision.

In the Eurovision Song Contest, all tracks have a three minute requirement, and it’s safe to say people in the UK are going wild about the idea GEM might be next year’s entry.

Mel C, otherwise known as Sporty Spice, explained earlier this year why she opted out of the reunion – 20 years on from the group’s first hit Wannabe .

Speaking to Love magazine, she said: “Truth be told, earlier this year after several face-to-face meetings with the girls I made the difficult decision not to be part of a proposed reunion with Emma, Geri and Melanie.”

“Unfortunately something didn’t feel quite right and I had to follow my gut,” the star explained.

Victoria Beckham, otherwise known as Posh Spice, also opted out of proceedings due to her ongoing work with her fashion label, plus her commitments to her family.

The girls did reform briefly to put on a show-stopping performance at London’s 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. But it looks like for now, that’s all we’re going to get of the fivesome, and we’ll have to settle for three.
