The couple announced the news in a joint statement on Monday, asking for privacy during this difficult time.
“This is not the future we envisioned,” the statement read.
“And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
According to reports, Blake filed for divorce two weeks ago and the papers were officially signed off by a judge only a few hours after the pair released their statement on Monday.
Blake and Miranda dated for six years before getting married in 2011. The two met each other after being paired up to do a duet at CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets Concert in 2005, when Blake was still married to his first wife Kaynette Gern.
While the two have battled their fair share of troubles over the years, including persistent rumours of cheating on Blake’s part, the couple had always previously pulled through.
In her January 2015 interview with Marie Claire, Miranda had nothing but praise for her husband, calling him the “happiest person on the planet”.
“He pulls me out of my darkness,” she told the publication.
“Literally, everything is the best about being married.”
