Michelle Pickles leaving TV3

Newshub sports presenter Michelle Pickles has announced she is leaving television.

After working for TV3 for 14 years, the popular journalist will take up a new role with the New Zealand Racing Board in March.

“Excited to be joining the NZ Racing Board as Media Personnel Mgr in March,” she wrote on Twitter this morning. “My 14 years at TV3 have been amazing but a new challenge awaits.”

Pickles has been the popular face of Newshub’s sports team, leading the broadcaster’s coverage of events including the Rugby World Cup, as well as the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

She is also no stranger to the world of competition. Pickles was a former roller figure skater and represented New Zealand in the 1980’s.
